britains-got-talent-fatherKier electrician Demetri Demetriou, aka Stavros Flatley, has reached the final of TV show Britain’s Got Talent alongside his 12-year old son Lagi, having impressed the judges with his hilarious take on Michael Flatley’s Riverdance and winning the public vote in the semi-final.

Demetri first developed his alter-ego while running a restaurant in North London and he and his son started practising the dance routine specifically for the TV talent show. Their performance had judges Amanda Holden, Piers Morgan and Simon Cowell in hysterics.

“Since the show was broadcast I am being recognised by tenants and they always say they think our act was great,” says Demetri. “My colleagues at Kier’s Ealing office have been very supportive and were hoping we would get through the semi-finals.”

Demetri has worked at Kier for eight years and carries out electrical repair and maintenance projects for Ealing Borough Council and Ascham Homes, as well as others around the capital.britains-got-talent-both-a

“Between our first audition and the semi-finals we have put in a lot of rehearsal time for our new routine. We were completely overwhelmed when we found out we’d won the public vote to get through to the finals on Saturday, our next few days will be non-stop rehearsing.” says Demetri. “I have been given a great deal of support by Kier and am pleased to know my colleagues will be cheering me and Lagi on.”

Client Liaison Manager Martin Clifford, one of Demetri’s colleagues at Kier Ealing, said: “Demetri is a very popular member of staff at our Ealing contract and also supplies operatives to other London contracts including Hammersmith & Fulham, Harrow and Islington.

“He is a regular contributor to our resident forums and client workshops and it was hilarious to see Demetri and his son on TV – we all loved it and we hope he wins the final.”
